WHAT TO DO WITH A FEW HOURS IN CHICAGO!

After leaving Milwaukee, WI, we headed back to Indiana to end our amazing road trip before flying home to North Carolina. My Dad and I figured out that we had a few free hours before our dinner plans in Indianapolis. So, we decided to quickly check out Chicago.

Well, what did we do in a few hours? Surprisingly, we did a lot in such a short amount of time. I have listed our 4 quick stops below!

1. Leaning Tower of Niles – About 20 miles north of Chicago, in Niles, Illinois, there is a replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. This tower was built in 1934 by a businessman named Bob Ilg to honor Galileo. It is now on the property of a YMCA, which is named Leaning Tower YMCA. I think it would be pretty neat to go to the Y each day to workout and see this replica. It is definitely worth the stop!

2. Cloud Gate – Cloud Gate, in Millennium Park, is a sculpture created by Anish Kapoor, who is a British artist. This sculpture is located in the middle of downtown Chicago, and it is often referred to as the bean because of its shape. We all really enjoyed seeing this beautiful sculpture along with the backdrop behind it.

3. Route 66 Begin Sign – I’m not sure what I was expecting, but this was definitely our largest let down of the road trip. We walked from Cloud Gate to see the sign (0.3 miles) and then took an Uber to the Navy Pier. It was just a sign so I would not recommend this stop unless you really love route 66.

4. Navy Pier – We did not have much time left as we arrived at the Navy Pier so we went straight to Pier Park. The girls rode on the carousel, and we all rode the Centennial Wheel. I am extremely scared of heights, but for some reason if I’m in an enclosed space, I can handle it. The ferris wheel was definitely worth it as the views were just beautiful.

We hope you enjoyed hearing about our quick trip to Chicago. What is your favorite place to visit in the Windy City? We will definitely be back to see more. Thank you for wandering along with us on our road trip!
