WANDERING THROUGH WISCONSIN

After our experience in Marvelous Michigan, we were not sure what to expect from the next state… Well, Wisconsin definitely surprised us. We were able to visit Green Bay, Madison, and Milwaukee. In the post below, I’m going to outline our top 5 favorite stops from Wisconsin.

5. The Fighting Wisconsin Badger – Do we have any University of Wisconsin fans out there? Well, my family and I are NOT Wisconsin fans… We are Penn State fans. My husband and I met at Penn State and the rest is history. We thought it might add some fun if we stopped by the Fighting Badger statue on our road trip for a special picture. This statue debuted in September 2001 to guard Camp Randall Stadium.

Has anyone else taken thumbs down pictures in front of other schools in their conference? Along our travels, we also stopped at Ohio State University, University of Michigan, & Michigan State for these pictures.

4. Pinkie the Pink Elephant – A large pink elephant with glasses.. what a great picture op! In the 1970’s, this elephant was a landmark for ARCO gas stations, and this statue is the only one left. The girls enjoyed climbing on Pinkie!

3. Madison Children’s Museum – The Madison Children’s Museum is a passport program participant for the Association of Science and Technology Centers. With this program, we were able to gain free entrance to the museum by using our Greensboro Science Center membership card. Make sure to bring any membership cards to your local spots if they are part of the ASTC or AZA programs.

When we entered the museum, the girls flocked right to the climbing area on the second floor. After looking at the website, It looks like there is another climbing area there now, named Possible-opolis, which looks just as fun!

Our favorite part of the museum was the area on the roof called Rooftop Ramble. There was a pond, herb garden, climbing area, an amazing view of the Capital Building, and some Wisconsin reptiles and fish. The girls thought it was such a neat experience to play and see plants growing on the rooftop!

2. The Bronz Fonz & the Milwaukee RiverWalk – We started our evening at Rock Bottom Brewery for dinner. We sat outside along the RiverWalk, and we had a great meal while enjoying the river view. Once we were done eating, we strolled along the RiverWalk to find the Bronz Fonz.

The Bronz Fonz is a statue, created by artist Gerald P. Sawyer, to depict Henry Winkler or “the Fonz” from Happy Days. I loved watching re-runs of Happy Days when I was a kid! Did you love Happy Days?

1. Lambeau Field Tour – Our FAVORITE stop in Wisconsin was the tour of Lambeau Field. My dad and I are Eagles fans, and the girls (and my husband) are Ravens fans (well, most of the time). Even though we are not fans of the Packers, we loved seeing and touring Lambeau Field. I think it is absolutely amazing that the Packers are owned by the fans. In total, the Packers have 112,000 owners, and they are the only publicly owned major professional team in the US. It is a very special place, and you are able to experience that feeling when touring the stadium.

We chose the Champions Tour and Hall of Fame combination admission. Before the tour, we explored the Packers Pro Shop and the Hall of Fame.

The girls picked out a Packers cheerleader Barbie set. Funny story – Right after we left the tour, the girls were playing with their new barbies in the car while we were driving from Green Bay to Madison. Unfortunately, one of the barbies broke and her leg came off. Well, my dad reached out to the Packers Pro Shop, and they sent us a new one right away. Thank you for the great customer service, Packers Pro Shop.

We thought the Hall of Fame was great. We learned a lot about the Packers, and it was a great introduction to the tour. The girls loved pretending to be Vince Lombardi, who was the head coach for the Packers from 1959 to 1967.

The Champions Tour lasted about 90 minutes and was mostly walking. We were able to sit down in the different seat options when our guide was speaking. We loved the tour, and the girls really enjoyed going through the players-tunnel. If you are a fan of football, I highly recommend touring this special place!

We hoped you enjoyed our 5 favorite stops from Wisconsin! Where is your favorite stop in the cheese state? Thank you for wandering along with us!
