VIRGINIA BEACH IN THE FALL

My sister, who lives in Los Angeles, let us know that she was traveling to Norfolk, VA, for a work conference. When she informed me of the dates, it somehow worked out that the kids had a teacher workday during the the same time. So, we decided to drive up and visit! It was a quick trip (2 nights & 1 day), but it was wonderful to see her and have time together. I’m going to outline what we did with our time in Virginia Beach throughout this post.

We stayed right on the boardwalk at the Oceanaire by Diamond Resorts in a one-bedroom suite with an ocean view (1 queen bed and 1 double sofa bed). It was the perfect set up for the 4 of us since one kid bunked with each adult. There was also a really nice kitchen with bar seating, refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and dining table. It would have been a great place to stay for a week vacation.

Unfortunately, the weather did not look so great for our time there. So, we took advantage of the decent weather when we arrived, taking a stroll on the boardwalk. We all love seeing the beach so it was a perfect way to start our trip.

Our original plan for the next morning was to drive to Norfolk and take the ferry from there to the Children’s Museum of Virginia in Portsmouth. The ferry operates every 30 minutes and the dock is only a few blocks away from the museum. With the rainy and cool weather, we decided to drive to the museum instead.

The girls’ favorite exhibit was definitely the bank area that had a game (pictured above) in which they were able to stomp on as many coins as they could. The museum was a great way to spend the morning.

Afterwards, we ventured to Build-a-Bear for a furry friend. This is always a must do stop for us if the weather is bad.

For dinner that night, we decided to head to the movies. We went to see Abominable at the Beach Cinema Alehouse. It was such a cute movie, and the girls thought it was super cool to have dinner at the movies.

We had such a great trip visiting Aunt JacJac. We loved being at the beach even if the weather was not the best. But, I guess that’s what you can expect by visiting the beach in the fall. Thank you for wandering along with us!
