FAMILY FRIENDLY WINE TASTING IN NAPA

During our trip to San Francisco, we were able to spend a day in Napa for some wine tasting. We had both kids with us so we did lots of research on kid-friendly wineries prior to the trip. We ended up going to 3 amazing wineries, and the kids, as well as all of the adults, really enjoyed our time in Napa. In this post, I will outline the 3 wineries that we chose!

1. Castello di Amorosa – Visiting a castle is any little girls dream! And, this dream was fulfilled for my girls while visiting Castello di Amorosa. Dario Sattui, who is a 4th-generation winemaker, resurrected the family business after his great-grandfather was forced to shut down when Prohibition went into effect. He built this 13th-century Tuscan style castle to honor his Italian heritage. And the castle is just stunning along, with the gorgeous scenery around it.

So, what makes this winery kid friendly? Well, first, it’s a castle with a moat and a drawbridge! In addition, they offer grape juice tastings along with coloring books while the adults are wine tasting. My girls were super happy to be there! When exiting, there is also a fenced area with some animals. If the kids were to give this winery a rating, they would give it a solid 5/5 stars!

2. Sterling Vineyards – Sterling Vineyards is on top of a 300-ft hill overlooking the town of Calistoga. The only way to access the winery is by taking an aerial tram. Before getting on the tram, the kids were given a drawstring backpack with a coloring book, sunglasses, snacks, & gatorade. Giving kids a gift before they go wine tasting with their parents? Best idea ever! Thank you, Sterling Vineyards! The whole family loved the trip up on the tram.

The views were spectacular from the winery. And, we were able to see many different angles during our self guided tour. Throughout the tour, there were tasting stops for the adults. Once we were done tasting, we hopped back on the tram for the ride down. If the girls were to give this winery a rating, it would also be 5 stars!

3. V. Sattui Winery – Our last stop of the day was at V. Sattui Winery in St. Helena! Dario Sattui opened this winery in 1976. Sattui then opened Castello di Amorosa in 2007 (our first stop). When we arrived, we first noticed the beautiful picnic grounds. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to enjoy the food and lounge around. There is an Artisan Deli & Marketplace at the winery as well as food trucks on the weekend. There were tons of kids playing outside on the picturesque grounds. Once inside the winery, the girls were delighted to try out some more grape juice while the adults were tasting the wine.

Overall, we had a wonderful time wine tasting in Napa with the kids in tow. The wineries that we visited had plenty to offer for the kids, and the girls, as well as adults, had a fantastic time. Have you ever taken your kids wine tasting?? Thank you for wandering along with us!
