OUR TOP CITIES TO VISIT WITH KIDS ON THE EAST COAST!

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! I cannot believe how long it has been since we last officially traveled. I am dreaming about the trips to come as well as planning away. Are you ready to travel?

While everyone is planning their summers, I thought it would be great to outline some of the best cities to visit with kids. We have been to some of these multiple times and others, just once. Unfortunately, we have not visited any cities north of Pennsylvania with the kids.

4. Washington, DC – During one of our many trips to visit family in PA, we stopped in Washington, DC for the day. Our first sight was to see the Washington Monument.

Then, we checked out one of the amazing and FREE museums in DC. We only had time to visit the National Museum of Natural History but there is a whole bunch, and they are all FREE every single day. There is so much to see that you could spend days checking them all out! At the end of our day trip, we stopped to enjoy the carousel on the National Mall.

My kids have probably been to every carousel up and down the East coast. It’s a good way to entice them into good behavior by promising a carousel ride! I am looking forward to going back to DC soon so that we can check out more museums and monuments as well as get lots of National Park stamps!

3. Charleston, SC – We have family that live in Charleston so we have visited multiple times. The Holy City is stunning, with unbelievable charm. Every time we are in Charleston, we are able to explore something that is kid-friendly!

Fun Cities to Visit with Kids - Plantation in Charleston

Some of our favorites include the Battery, City Market, Rainbow Row, Charles Town Landing, and Plantation. There is so much more in Charleston to see including the Angel Oak tree, tons of plantations, Fort Sumter National Monument, and incredible Southern cuisine. We are looking forward to our next trip!

2. Atlanta, GA – For Emma’s 5th birthday, we decided to venture to Atlanta for an American Girl-themed birthday celebration. We stayed at the Residence Inn Atlanta Alpharetta/ North Point Mall with the American Girl Experience package.

The girls had their own VIP check-in along with touches of pink throughout the room. In addition, they received milk and cookies and an American Girl doll bed.

We then went to enjoy Legoland Discovery Center in the North Point Mall. The girls loved it, but it was insanely crowded so I would rather go to one of the outdoors amusement parks next time.

For our second day in Atlanta, we went to the American Girl store to pick out Emma’s American Doll. She chose the Truly Me doll that had her same features. Once the purchase was complete, we had lunch at the cafe and celebrated her birthday. If you have never done this and have doll-loving children, go ahead and book it. The dolls get their own seat, and the birthday girl is spoiled! It’s super precious.

For our last day in Atlanta, we walked around Centennial Olympic Park, which is where the 1996 Summer Olympics were held, before driving home. There is so much more to see in Atlanta including World of Coke, Georgia Aquarium, CNN Tours, and Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Park. We can’t wait to go back with the kids!

1. Orlando, FL – DISNEY WORLD – need I say more? Ok, how about Universal Studios, Legoland, pools, hot weather, lots of sun, etc.?? We have been to Disney World three times as a family, and the girls have each been on a Kindermoon with me.

Disney World is a planner’s paradise. It is a blast to plan as well as see your kids’ giant smile once you are experiencing everything that you planned. Some of our favorite experiences at Disney World include a makeover at Bippity Boppity Boutique, meeting the characters, and ringing in the New Year at Disney. Check out this blog post to see our top ten experiences at Disney! It’s a truly magical place, and we hope to visit again soon.
