FUN THINGS TO DO IN INDIANAPOLIS WITH KIDS!

Since we have not been traveling much lately, I started to look back at some of our past trips to see what I could write about. I saw pictures from our trip to Indianapolis in August 2018, and I thought it would be a great city to include in a blog post!

We really enjoyed visiting Indy. I was impressed with the city itself from the start. My parents were on this trip as well, so we wanted to make sure to appease the kids while enjoying time with my parents. During our trip, we found three really fun things to do in Indianapolis with kids!

Indy with Kids

1. When researching about Indianapolis, the number one place to go with kids is always Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. In fact, it is consistently listed as the best children’s museum in the country, and I’d have to agree. It was amazing.

I’m usually that mom who wants to be in and out of a children’s museum ASAP, but visiting the children’s museum in Indy was a great experience. There was so much to do that we even came back the next night to check out the outside portion, which is called the Sports Legend Experience!

One of my favorite features was the beautiful 43-foot glass tower named Fireworks of Glass by artist Dale Chihuly. The colors are spectacular and it goes all the way to the top floor of the museum. At the bottom, there is a space to sit down and look at the sculpture from below. See – this children’s museum even has things for adults to enjoy!

If you want to check out the museum now, their website has so many virtual offerings for everyone at home!

2. Another favorite of ours was the Indianapolis Canal Walk. If you’re in the mood for a nice urban walk, enjoy walking the 3-mile loop around the canals.

We loved walking around in such a pretty setting with the city around us! Once the girls saw the pedal boats, they begged BB & Pa (their Grandparents) to take a ride with them. Luckily, BB & Pa agreed. The girls absolutely loved it, and BB & Pa got quite the workout!

3. We are always fans of a zoo visit, but the Indianapolis Zoo definitely ranks high on our list of favorites around the country. Any zoo that includes animals, rides, and a dolphin show is a thumbs up for us!

We started our day off with the dolphin show, and it was fascinating! Afterwards, we jumped on the Skyline to get a better view of the orangutans. This exhibit includes canopied towers outside for the orangutans to use just like in the forest. We also enjoyed the Kombo coaster, train, feeding the giraffes, and so much more!

As a bonus, we just happened to be staying at the same hotel as the Baltimore Ravens. They were in town for a preseason match up with the hometown Colts. It just so happens that my husband’s favorite team is the Ravens and he was thrilled to see some players, coaches and personnel wandering through the hotel. Olivia even got to meet Robert Griffin III!

Have you ever been to Indianapolis?? Thank you for wandering along with us!
