GRAND TOUR PHOTO SPOTS IN TICINO!

When we moved to Switzerland, I started researching fun things to do in Switzerland and I came across the amazing Swiss Grand Tour. The Grand Tour is a route through Switzerland that includes many of the top sights in the country along a scenic route. Along this route, there are fifty-six photo spots. During this past weekend, we were lucky enough to see three Grand Tour photo spots in Ticino!

In November, we first posted about this epic tour around Switzerland, and we also mentioned our goal of visiting twenty-five photo spots before the anniversary of our first year in Basel. Well, GUESS WHAT?!?! We hit that goal after seven months! Our NEW goal is to find thirty-five photo spots before October 2, 2022. Think we can do it??

Now, you may be asking … so, why are you doing this? Well, we want to see as much of Switzerland as possible! Swiss Tourism has done an amazing job creating this Grand Tour and some of the spots are not the normal attractions you hear about all of the time! We are doing these signs as a family as well, so the quality time together has been amazing. Also, planning these trips and checking off each of these on my to-do list is extremely satisfying!

To get us to twenty-five (actually twenty-six now), we explored three photo spots in the amazing region of Ticino. Ticino is an Italian-speaking region in southern Switzerland. This region is filled with gorgeous lakes, palm trees, green mountains, and lots of delicious Italian food. The three stops visited include Castel San Pietro, Mendrisio, and Monte San Giorgio. In a past trip to Ticino in November, we enjoyed the photo spots in Ascona and Bellinzona. There are still three that we have not seen (Tremola, Cardada, and Monte Ceneri) so obviously this region has a lot to offer visitors, and we cannot wait for our next visit!

If you would like to visit our three recent photo spots mentioned above, we would recommend either driving to this region or renting a car once in the region. These are not easy to find spots right out of the local train station, but they are definitely worth the trip!

We hope you fall in love with Ticino like we have! Thank you so much for wandering along with us!
