FIFTY LOVEworks VISITED!
Virginia’s slogan is Virginia is for Lovers! To embrace this slogan, Virginia placed LOVE art around welcome centers in the state. Once this was a success, each town or business was able to then portray their history or greatest assets through decorating the four letters of LOVE however they would like. There are over 200 LOVEworks around Virginia. The goal of this branding initiative is to drive tourism. And, the state of Virginia has definitely accomplished their goal.
We’re excited to say that we actually made it to our goal of finding 50 LOVEworks! And, what a blast it has been! The girls and I have truly enjoyed finding these signs! We began this journey on May 7, and we completed our goal on July 7. It took exactly two months and 10 road trips! Thank you, Virginia, for this amazing experience.
So, you may be wondering why in the world did we traipse all over creation to find these LOVEworks? Well, here are five reasons why:
- Family time – There is nothing better than spending time with my little girls. They are at such fun ages right now (6 & 7) so I am really enjoying seeing their personalities come out while they turn into little adventurers.
- Vitamin D – Has anyone else been trying to avoid a crazy amount of screen-time during Corona? Don’t get me wrong – we LOVE iPad and TV time! But, we have lessened our time on these devices by getting outside and enjoying the sun, nature, and the sights.
- Kept us busy – After spending so much time at home, we became bored. Every day seemed the same, and we had a hard time finding places to explore. By adding this hunt into the mix, we were able to get excited about something, as well as feel like we were doing something productive. We visited many places that I would have never visited if not for these signs!
- COVID friendly – Every single LOVEworks that we went to visit was outside. The girls were given strict instructions to never touch the structures. If there was anyone there before us, which did not happen often, we waited six feet away until they were done. It doesn’t get much more COVID friendly, does it?
- Art – By finding these signs, the girls have been able to see art in many different forms. Both girls love art, and Olivia even dreams of becoming an artist. It’s been a great way to show the girls that art exists in many different forms!
We hope you have enjoyed wandering along with us while finding these amazing works of art! Have you found anything like this in your state or country?
