HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN THREE STATES AT ONCE?

Have you ever been in three states at once? Many of us know about the Four Corners Monument. New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Utah come together at a wonderful roadside attraction in Navajo Nation that I hope to take the girls to soon. But, there is also a lesser known area where three states come together! Any idea where??

Well, it’s in Kentucky at the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park. Cumberland Gap National Historical Park is best known for containing a pass in the Cumberland Mountains that allowed pioneers to head west.

Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia all come together at the Tri-State Peak. The elevation at this peak is 1,990 feet. And in order to get to this tripoint, you will need to take the Tri-State Peak Trail, which is a 2.2-mile out-and-back, moderate trail. On the way up, the trail is definitely exhausting since the elevation change totals about 620 feet. But, once you are up there, it is worth it!

As you can see above, they were super excited to be in three states! The girls did amazing with this elevation change, and I was super proud of their great attitudes. We took it one step at a time and made it up in decent time. The way down was much easier and faster!

Once we were done, we went to take a look at the Pinnacle Overlook, which was just stunning.

We are so excited to be able to say that we have now been to Kentucky! Kentucky is the girls’ 18th state that they have visited in their six and seven years of life. One of my bucket list goals is to take them to all fifty states before they graduate high school. And, we are well on our way!

Have you ever visited Cumberland Gap National Historical Park? Thank you for wandering along with us!
