THE GIRLS’ TOP TEN FAVORITES AROUND GREENSBORO!

Wow, I cannot believe we are no longer North Carolinians… When we moved to Greensboro 7+ years ago, we had no idea how this city would become our home and how we would meet friends that would become our family. Thank you, Greensboro, for giving our family such a wonderful place to live and grow.

We truly love Greensboro, and there are so many kid-friendly places to see. So, I asked the girls their favorites around town and compiled a list. After checking out this post, I hope you’re intrigued to come visit this wonderful, small city.

10. Finding Jean Sculptures around town – Did you know that one of Greensboro’s nicknames is Jeansboro? To commemorate the denim and textile industry in Greensboro, Wrangler, which is headquartered in Greensboro, started a project that creates art in the form of jean sculptures. The girls love coming across these sculptures around town!

9. Country Park – The girls have been going to this park since they were teeny babies! They grew up coming to Stroller Strides with me, feeding the ducks, and taking tons of walks around the 1.5 mile loop. It is a Greensboro favorite with a beautiful lake in the middle.

8. Greensboro Grasshoppers – The Greensboro Grasshoppers are a Minor League baseball team affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The girls absolutely love attending these games, getting ice cream, and watching the fireworks! There’s even a playground at the stadium as well as a ball boy that’s a dog! Don’t forget to take a picture with the Grasshopper statue out front before you leave.

7. O’Henry Hotel for Tea – The O’Henry Hotel is a hotel in Greensboro that offers afternoon tea. Emma and Olivia truly love dressing up and attending tea. They have done it each a few times and have had the best time. There is even a tea charm collection including Nutcracker Tea, Madhatter Tea, and Wizard of Oz Tea where each child receives a charm from each of these teas attended. Last year, we went to the Nutcracker Tea, and it was magical.

6. Guilford Courthouse National Military Park – How many people can say that there is a national park site in your backyard? Well in Greensboro, this is true! We have enjoyed coming to this park since we moved to Greensboro in 2013. There is so much to do in and around the park including trails and monuments, as well as a 2 mile loop around the park. This National Military Park commemorates the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, which was fought on March 15, 1781.

5. Greensboro Children’s Museum – We were lucky enough to have a membership to this museum for a few years, and the girls really enjoyed it. There are so many fun hands-on activities, as well as an amazing climbing area out front. Olivia had her second birthday party at this museum, and both girls attended Fancy Nancy camp last summer, which was one of their favorites camps to date.

4. Bog Garden/ Tanger Bicentennial Park – The Bog Garden has an elevated boardwalk that the girls just love to run along, with beautiful views of the creek and lake. There is even a waterfall for people to enjoy the soothing sounds of water. The Tanger Bicentennial Park is across the street, and it has more walking paths along with beautiful gardens.

3. Lake Brandt trails – During COVID, we really have gotten to enjoy our local trails! I love any and all water views so hitting the trails near Lake Brandt is perfect.

2. Greensboro Science Center – The Science Center includes not only a science center but also a zoo, aquarium, ropes course, and a play area. You could spend the whole day keeping busy! It also backs up to Country Park.

1. ICE CREAM! – Isn’t ice cream any kids top choice? The girls absolutely love to go out for ice cream. Our favorite spot is Ozzie’s but Greensboro is known for Yum Yum, which was opened in 1906.

Is Greensboro now on your list of places to visit? Thank you for wandering along with us!
