FLYING BUSINESS CLASS WITH UNITED!

As many of you may know, we have officially moved to Switzerland!! And, now, you may wonder why would you move in the middle of a pandemic? Well, my husband accepted a new position at his company’s global headquarters in May, and the job is located in Basel, Switzerland! So, after many months of crying, laughing, packing, logistics planning, selling a house, moving to a temporary house, and selling more stuff, we headed over the pond with United Airlines.

We were lucky enough to be able to fly with United Polaris (Business and First Class)! And, what an amazing experience we had! Our journey began in Fort Lauderdale. With thunderstorms approaching, we were eager to take off on time. Who knows what would have happened if the flight had been delayed. This planned itinerary was already our third one after flight cancellations and reroutings. After boarding, we flew to Dulles International Airport (IAD), which is right outside of Washington, DC. Due to COVID restrictions, the airlines handed out a sealed snackbox along with a beverage of choice. The snackbox hit the spot, and it included chips, almonds, beef jerky, and m&m’s.

We had a short layover in IAD, and then we boarded our flight to Zurich. The girls were in awe of our amazing business class pods once we stepped on the plane. A personal TV, sleep chairs, and an amenity gift… seriously, it’s any child’s dream. And, the parents were beyond happy as well!

Once we were settled on the plane, the amazing flight attendants swooped in and took the girls up to cockpit. They were able to sit in the pilot’s chairs, meet the pilot, and “fly the plane.” Such a fun way to start our long flight. Between the delicious dinner, the amazing flight attendants, and our luxurious seats, we all had a wonderful flight.

Another honorable mention includes United’s pet policy and Emotional Support Animal policy. United was by far the best airline to deal with regarding bringing a pet in cabin. Once on each plane, they were super sweet to our puppy, Yeti.

As far as flying during Covid, everyone had to wear a mask the entirety of the flight unless you were eating or drinking. The flight attendants wore gloves, and we each received wipes when we entered the plane. The high exposure areas were hand-wiped between flights, and the entire plane was sprayed with a cleaning solution. We felt very comfortable on our flight.

Thank you, United, for making our adventure smooth and fun. We would definitely recommend United Polaris to anyone! And, thank you for wandering along with us!
