Five Underrated Attractions at Disneyland Paris
Are you a fan of Disney? Well, I have a confession. I am a HUGE DISNEY fan and I cannot wait to tell you about our visit to Disneyland Paris. Disneyland Paris is about 30 km west of Paris, and it has two theme parks (Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios). In the Disney complex, there is Disney Village, which is similar to Disney Springs, two theme parks and six themed hotels. We stayed at the Cars-themed hotel (Hotel Santa Fe), and we visited during Halloween weekend so we had some crazy crowds. Since we could not get on all of the top rides due to the waits, I wanted to put together a list of five underrated attractions at Disneyland Paris.
Disneyland Paris has introduced Disney Premier Access instead of the original fast pass system. This means that each person must pay a certain amount per ride in order to go in the fast lane. I chose to do this only once per day to keep costs down. For example, it cost my daughters and I 42 Euros (14 Euros per person) to get a fast pass for Peter Pan. I really do miss the old system of getting three fast passes for free. What do you think of paying for fast passes?
The mixture of Disney Premier Access costs and the Halloween crowds led us to concentrate on some of the underrated rides. We usually go straight for the most popular rides! During our time at Disneyland Paris, Peter Pan, Crush’s Coaster, Ratatouille, RC Racer, Hyperspace Mountain and Phantom Manor seemed to have the longest waits.
Here is our list of five underrated attractions:
1. Cars Road Trip
When the tram-like vehicle pulled up, I thought we were in for a bore. But, I was wrong! Cars Road Trip takes you along Route 66 with lots of silly roadside attractions. When you arrive in the canyon, the tram begins to shake, the truck on the mountain bursts into flames, and water comes flooding out everywhere. We did not expect any of the excitement, and we really enjoyed the surprise! There was also only a two-minute wait, which added to the experience.
2. Animation Academy
Since my youngest daughter absolutely loves art, I knew that this had to be on our must-do list. It did NOT disappoint! The girls absolutely loved learning how to draw Tigger during their session. We had to wait 40 minutes for this attraction due to the limited number of seats. They enjoyed watching the other sessions (Olaf and Goofy) during our wait and did not even complain. If your children like art, I would definitely recommend this attraction! It is also one of the only attractions that you receive something to take home (the picture you draw).
3. Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups
The girls would love to spin in these tea cups all day long! But, I really enjoy watching while enjoying the atmosphere of the different colors and lanterns hanging down!
4. Alice’s Curious Labyrinth
Alice’s Curious Labyrinth is a hedge maze attraction filled with all things Alice in Wonderland. My kids really enjoyed finding their way out and visiting the Queen of Heart’s castle. It is a great spot to let the kids run wild and explore without the long lines. There are also some great photo ops!
5. Big Thunder Mountain
Ok, I know that this is a popular ride, but we all completely fell in love with this ride at night. The views of the park from the ride are stunning! You are not able to see what is coming next which also makes the ride more exciting. And, there are smaller lines at night.
