2020 IS OVER!
Wow, I cannot believe how fast, but also how slow 2020 has gone! Does anyone else feel the same? It sure has been a rollercoaster of a year. Lots of interesting experiences to look back on. I mean… who could have predicted that a mask would become the newest trend this year?? Personally, I’m ready to ditch those when it is safe to do so!
In all seriousness, when I was thinking back on the past year, I realized that we actually accomplished a lot despite the pandemic. Have you had time to ponder on your past year? How do you evaluate what has happened during a specific time in your life?
I like to start by thinking about some of my goals… For example, it’s always a goal of mine to be more in the present and spend time as a family. And, guess what, the pandemic definitely allowed for lots of quality family time. We made LOTS of memories that probably would not have happened if life was “normal”.
I also like to make sure that I am staying in touch with family and friends. Particularly with those that may not live close or those we may not get to see as much as we’d like. Luckily, Zoom has really enhanced time with family and friends when we cannot be together. Do not get me wrong… Zoom is not anything like seeing people in-person, but it is a good placeholder for when in-person time is hard to come by.
What other things are you proud to say that you have accomplished during this year? Here are a few of mine (which mostly have to do with travel):
- The girls and I drove ACROSS the country from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean (bucket list item)
- We MOVED to another country (bucket list item)
- The girls visited SEVEN NEW states for a total of twenty-six states (bucket list item – take girls to all fifty states before graduation)
- I started a BLOG
- We sold OUR HOUSE in North Carolina
- We all started learning GERMAN
- We visited ten GRAND TOUR signs in eight cantons around Switzerland
- The girls and I met our NEW NIECE/COUSIN and spent time with her in California
So, what are your goals moving forward in 2021? Some of mine include: travel to different countries throughout Europe, work on running again, visit family in the US (when it is safe), and make lots of new memories as a family.
We hope you all have a Happy New Year! Cheers to 2021! And thank you for wandering along with us!
